The Leicester Business School (LBS) at De Montfort University is composed of five different departments, each offering a more focused approach to an aspect of the business world. These areas are Accounting and Finance; Corporate Development; Human Resource Management; Politics and Public Policy; and Strategic Management and Marketing.

Taught at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, while classes for current professionals and for those interested in research are also available. In addition, the school offers itself as a source for business information as a result of its own research that it conducts. The wide scope of that research includes data in areas that include human resources, entrepreneurship, housing and health policy.

The more than 5,000 LBS students that matriculate to the school each year are based in the school’s Hugh Aston Building. Built at a cost of slightly over $46 million, the Aston Building also houses a number of other departments that make up the entire school.

LBS’s Business Works program brings the current student population together with businesses in the Leicester area that seek to solve problems and offer solutions.

As an honest a fair review, I give DMU a low rating. The particular course I was on the lecturers left half way through the year and changed several times. I didn’t know who my tutor was until final year. I didn’t know where to access revision material and after asking and finding out, it wasn’t necessary to the exams I had. I feel like I have been taught nothing from tutors and no extra help has been given even though asked for. I’m really upset I attended this university and wish I had read real reviews like this one! I’ve unfortunately had my time wasted here, and I urge anyone thinking about joining this uni to research properly about your course and compare it to other uni’s.

Friends of mine who went to different university’s are now more advanced in the field I was studying in, and now I have a lot of catching up to do in order to get the job I wanted at the end. I really have made the best of what I have had. Not worth £9,000 a year!

I absolutely adored my time at DMU. The university can be a bit unorganised but any organisation of that size is bound to have a few slips through the cracks. Overall the sense of community and involvement is incredible and its a true home to me.

Brilliant University, the one characteristic is has is the lectures help you and will talk to you, they won’t be snobby and run out the lecture theatre!. They are your friends and that makes the difference when studying

Do not attend this university unless you want all your hopes and dreams killed. It’s just a business, its not a service. Your brain is not enhanced, and the lecturers just want rubbish written on a piece of paper which relates to 19th century theory. If you’re considering on doing a business or accountancy/finance course, I would highly suggest you look elsewhere. The lecturers really don’t care, and just want their salary. Do an apprenticeship if DMU is your only choice. Not to mention the segregation within the students, no one interacts with eachother. I’ve heard its different for other courses in the uni, but seriously, do not take accountancy/finance/business here, you will be severely disappointed.

MSc in Intelligent Systems and Robotics is very good! Professors are always available if you need help and all of them are competent in their field (all of them holding a relevant PhD). Univeresity is closely linked to business world so chances of employability are high. I cannot judge their undergraduate courses, but this graduate one was great.
